Corset piercing
By Anath
I had never heard about corset piercings until a few years ago when a friend of mine who was looking for an original tattoo came up with the idea. Apparently after months looking for an out of the ordinary tattoo as a wedding present for her future husband, she found a site online where they offered “weird” tattoos and piercings. The first time she showed me the corset piercings I was almost in pain at the look of them but nonetheless I found the concept fascinating. I admit that I do not have any piercings myself but the look of the corset piercings was so hypnotising I was almost sold on the idea myself.
After a long research, my friend who had already several tattoos and piercings, found a professional corset piercer. I do not know if she engaged him due to his professional credentials or just because he was the most handsome Italian stud I had ever seen. He explained to us that corset piercings took longer in healing and that because of its failure rate not many professional piercers were enthusiastic to do it. But he had done it before and was very confident with the results he could achieve.
What is Corset piercing?
- Corset piercing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"A corset piercing is a series of surface piercings done to emulate the appearance of the lacing on the back of a corset."
Neck corset
To pierce or not to pierce...
The piercing affaire became a hot topic among our friends there were so many for and against arguments that it was difficult to keep up. As far as my friend was concerned, the more people against it, the more she was determined to have hers done. This should not have been a surprise for me as I already knew her masochist side.
Before her “big day” she discussed on several occasions with her Italian piercer the number of rings she was wanting and the exact place for each of them. Her piercing was to start under her shoulder blades and finish in her lower back. The agreed shape was an hourglass shape with 8 rings at each side of her back. By the time my friend decided to have her corset piercing done, she was already dating her piercer!
The day she went for her corset piercing we had lunch together. She reckoned that she needed a good meal before going for her “treatment” so she would not pass out during the process. I was concerned for her, but it reassured me that she had already gone for several piercings (belly button, tongue and lip) and she had always been a good healer, plus she was already sleeping with her piercer which meant that she would have someone in hand to clean her new piercings properly.

The results
Next time I saw my friend she was proudly showing me her pierced corset. I was jealous for a few minutes when I saw it. It was incredibly beautiful, but once she got into the details of how it had been done, any jealousy was immediately removed. According to my friend this was the most painful piercings she had ever had. How did she stand the 16 holes made in her back it is beyond me. I suppose that it helped that there was a comic side to all this. While the piercing was being done –at my friend’s home- her fiancé who had been travelling for a month phoned her and she had a hard time talking to him on the phone while her “new boyfriend” –who thought that he was the one and only- was piercing her back. Later she told me that it was harder to answer the phone than to stand the pain she was enduring. Despite her uneasiness she was happy that her fiancé phoned at that very moment so she had not time to think about the pain. In fact, by this time she had passed the pain limit and she could not feel her back anymore.
A few weeks later just before joining her fiancé abroad to start a new life, my friend finished her relationship with the piercer and her life went back to normal except for the new collection of laces that she had for her brand new pierced corset. I always wondered what happened after, how did her fiancé react. I wonder if she still has her corset and her fiancé. I also wonder what happened to that Italian stud… I should have got his number and make an appointment for a nail piercing!
Corset piercings, who are they for?
Temporary corset piercings are often performed for aesthetic reasons. Most people who have one done belong to a fetish group or enjoy BDSM activities. But there are also people who do it temporarily for advertising reasons or special events.
Warnings:
- Temporary corset piercings are open wounds, and are subject to the same infection, cross contamination, and irritation risks as any other healing piercing or small wound.
- Corset piercings, even healed ones, require constant vigilance by the wearer to prevent damage.
- Permanent piercings subjected to extended periods of lacing can increase the risk of migration or rejection.
- The healing process for permanent piercings can be extended and complicated due to the number of piercings healing at the same time
- Like all surface piercings, rejected or improperly healed corset piercings can leave noticeable permanent scarring.
Everything you need for a permanent corset piercing.
The days are over for temporary corset piercings. The kit on the right will give you everything but the ribbon. The kit includes:
- 20 microdermals with clear gems
- 20 dermal punches
- 2 insertion toos
- a box of sterile pouches to do the initial piercing.
- 20 rotating slave rings
- 2 microdermal post holding tools to enable you to switch out the gem heads for the slave rings.
A personal account
About the photos
Almost all of the photographs of corset piercing are of fresh piercings, which have not had the time to reject, migrate or otherwise fail to heal properly. Images used in advertising or magazines may be photoshopped or airbrushed to eliminate indications of swelling, redness, or infection, further promoting the illusion that these piercings are easy, or even possible to heal.
Usually corset piercings are photographed laced, also leading the public to believe that they can be worn laced at all times, which is not possible, even in a well healed, permanent corset piercing.

How to Get Permanent Corset Piercings
If you just prefer a classic corset instead of a pierced one, have a look at this:

Looks so painful, the one who got it must be really brave! Amazing!
I don't think I'll get into this far too painful. How do people who do this sleep on their backs or go swimming, and what happens if they get a hearty slap on the back?
Not for me or my wife...lol
Wow! The thought of this is very disturbing. But lets face it, if you want to make a "statement" this would probably do it.
It's very painful. I don't like this.
All I can say is 'Ouch' not my thing at all, I can't think of anything more pointless, excuse the pun.
Looks painful and I didn't think particularly attractive.
God, this is an abomination and self-torture!!! It's leave a scar for life not to mention pain.... Thanks Anath, beautiful hub.
Informative Hub. I just wonder what they are going to come up with next. Hopefully not revert back to lip plates. :)
Well done!
These are not permanent piercings. The only picture of a corset piercing that was actually done correctly was the last picture. The other ones pictured were pierced with CBR's which will never heal properly, hence why the fourth row in the first picture is all sorts of red and gross. In about 99.9% of cases corset piercings will never be permanent. Rejection rate is WAY too high no matter you care for it and if the piercings are even pierced with proper jewelry.
WOW, Anath! I've never heard of corset piercing. What an educational story. Intriguing however, I felt I was going to pass out just reading about the painful procedure. LOL!
Thanks for stopping to comment everyone :)
Who are they for?? I can tell who they're not for,,,, they're NOT FOR ME!!!! And I havbe a pretty high pain tollerance, it is not even about the pain, as of which I would be screaming and crying no doubt, that is not the lookj I want or would go for, it's seems first of all, that it would be too much work than I would ever dream of doing, I tried pearcing my own belly button well I suceeded but it was crooked (I did it with a safety pin) and couldn't get the earring through. If I ever get anything done, it will be a tat.
Thanks for sharing though, it never ceases to facinate and amaze me what people won't do to they're bodies
Franki
Well I learned something new! Not sure I want to know it but thank you anyway for a nice informative hub!
Not for me neither franki79. I do like the look of them but I wouldn't do it myself!
LOL, you know it now :) at the very least it will give you a new topic of conversation Catherine. Thanks for reading.
Wow! Cool, but frightening.
That was way cool! I think I might try something like that for Halloween. I'm sure I can reproduce that using a steel and latex! Of course I'll have to throw some blood in there with it. There can't be latex with blood!
Great Hub. Your friends sound a lot like some of mine...We should hang out....
yes, really cool Christoph.
I've been thinking the same bloodnlatex, I think we would have a lot of fun :)
Crap! Excellent hub, Anath. I'm glad I broke down and read it. Great info. Loved the story. And can I just say....OUCH! CRAP! DANG! And soooo not for me. It does look way cool though when it's perfect.
LOL, you said it Frieda: Ouch!
you naughty thing HealthTip... of course I will enjoy my weekend, it already started really great ;)
Thanks for your comment Tatyanna, it sounds like you have had a lot of fun with body decoration already!
its very hot
Are you freaking kidding me, never in my small little world thought something like this ever existed. Excellent hub and indeed educational for me as well.
LOL, it is sutrapu :)
Glad you liked it charanjeet kaur, I know it is not everyone's idea of beauty but it is interesting to know about it.
First time I ever heard of or saw this! Great hub - painful, but great. Since I think anything except your basic pierced ears is mutilation and in fact kinda ugly I dont understand why people love it so. But fascinating in a primal way.
Holy crap...
Wow...
Ouch!
Wow, fascinating! I've never heard of this, thanks for the intro! It seems like it would be impossible to care for a corset piercing on the back, I guess you'd definitely want your partner's "buy-in" if you went for that!
Thanks for sharing your opinion SoftCornHippo.
Well, I guess you were shocked Grey Wolf :)
I think that is what my friend was thinking about when she started dating her piercer Erica ;-)
Ouch!!! Are you hurt??I think I can't do this..AS i Can remember the time the the pierce in my ears are put I keep on crying till 3 days ..cause i can't sleep well..I can't sleep with side position..and I am very careful not to touch my ears if possible.:)
piercing is like giving self torture and its just luck cruel,
Some people are keen on painful pleasures bpo and SK!
Some stunning corsets there!
they are jbullet, they are stunning and you can be sure that they are unique!
.... I think an old fashioned corset would do.... yikes!
that might be a very good idea feeweewv
Ouch Ouch Ouch.........my back hurts anyway without the piercing by just looking at these pictures!!
I'll stick to traditional corsets when the need arises
Thanks Anath...i had no idea that there is such a thing as corset piercing till i stumbled upon your hub.
I actually had one of these stupid things. It didn't really hurt to have it done but it was very uncomfortable to live with. I'm very impulsive but seriously in hindsight, I must have been completely out of my mind for even considering this. I have to admit, it looks very sexy and I loved showing it off but it was impossible to live with. I have other piercings in places I won't mention here, so I know they can get in the way and can be uncomfortable at times. I know what they are all about and how to care for them, but this was a whole different animal. First off, I had it on my back so I had to have help cleaning the piercings. I'd take the laces out to shower or they would get wet which was miserable. Then I'd have to have someone lace me back up. I love corsets which is probably why I thought this would be a good idea, but the piercings got in the way of my wearing corsets and other lingerie especially anything lacey or fishnet. It also made sleeping or doing anything else while laying on my back very uncomfortable. Eventually I had the whole thing removed. I miss the sexiness of it, but not the inconvenience.
You are welcome K Kiss.
Disturbia: Thank you for sharing your experience. It is fantastic to have a comment from someone who actually had this done and had to cope with it on a day to day basis. Thanks!
You drew me in! I thought I was beyond being shocked! Unbelievable!
nice hub, intresting stuff
informative indeed!
though these types of piercings arent my cup of tea, I can certainly respect other peoples desire to play with their bodies as they see fit
Doesn't it hurt? I done some nose piercing in my college life,That help me look different. tattoos and piercing were my love before.
Wowsers, that looks painful!
I love hubs like this that give me information and insights that I would never have otherwise.
LOL... always glad to shock Smireles :)
Thanks bestcellphones
That's the spirit J-Art, even if it is not your thing, one must respect other's views.
Disturbia left a "first hand" testimony on having a corset piercing Patrick. It seems like it is more uncomfortable on a day to day basis than painful.
You never know what you are going to stumble upon when reading a hub Steven, glad you enjoyed this one :)
I have had piercings before, but I do not think I could go for this, to much pain and i would be terrified I would catch the ribbon on something. Great hub!!!
Perhaps a trip to the Psychologist first would be a good idea for people considering this level of decoration? Nothing against the content of the article, but this is simply not a normal human behavior.
Exactly right cowgirljess, that's what happened to me. I got the darn thing caught on everything. Couldn't lean back in a chair or lay on my back and taking a shower was like a circus act reaching back and trying to undo the laces. Keeping the piercings clean was a project in itself. Finally I had the rings removed and replaced with barbells. More comfortable, but then I started to itch and eventually I just had everything taken out. I guess if you don't have a job, family, pets, and a life, you might be able to get away with just sitting around looking amazing. But my life was too busy, my husband too rough, and my kids thought it was just plain creepy. In fact my youngest daughter threw up the first time she saw it. It really didn't hurt when I got the piercings. It felt like a bunch of sharp pinches and didn't hurt nearly as much as some of the other piercings I have.
And I disagree with MikeNV, humans have been decorating their bodies for thousands of years. I think it's very normal human behavior.
Thanks for comming back to clarify the concerns about corset body piercing Disturbia. As I said it, I really appreciate to have you here as you are the only person among us who has had this done.
I can understand if you don't agree with people having this kind of piercing MikeNV; but I don't think that they need psychological treatment for doing it. It is a weird option I must admit, but everyone is free to do whatever they want with their body and we should respect their choices. Thanks for your honest opinion anyway.
What will they think of next? I mean after the thrill of piercing, cutting, burning and scarring is boring...self mutilation is one day going to hit a brick wall...then I guess the only "different" people will be the ones with no tattoos or piercings LOL too late for me though.
A perfect example of "the artist as the medium." While art has the ability to delight, inspire, entertain or horrify the observer it is often a labourious and painful rendering on the part of the artist. For art to flourish we must strive for open-mindedness and refrain from intolerant, visceral judgement.
This hub is very informative! Though I can honestly say I never have understood the point of corset piercings. It seems like a lot of pain and time for something that isn't permanent, and doesn't really seem to have any benefits. I guess this kind of thing is just REALLY not up my ally.
Wow nicely done! I had heard about this type of piercing but had yet to see photos until now. Thanks!
This is a great hub--I love coming across interesting and well-written pieces about things I have never even thought of before.
I have to say that I prefer the leather corsets to any of the (more permanent) piercings!
great information for this topic
They're so beautiful and look so amazing, but I just don't think they're that practical. I mean, piercings in themselves aren't practical, but trying to get a corset piercing permanently would get in the way of a lot of things. I had enough issues wearing shirts after I got my tattoo between my shoulder blades-- I couldn't imagine having to accommodate for a full back set of piercings like that. Pain wouldn't be my worry so much as my new piercing getting caught on or ruining my clothing.
ohhhhhhh i think it is so painful
Wow! Yes, this was very informative! It looks so pretty and pretty painful!
Just imagine airport security! Interesting hub and definitely unique.
Thanks for all your comments, there are some points that I had not considered like airport security (thanks Mardi) or wearing clothes over it, showering and all that. I wonder how people cope with it.
God! isn't it painful? I have heard of piercing only in ears and eyebrows.. but this looks painful but attrctive.. :) keep up the good work !
Aparently it is more annoying than painful Vizey. In any event I am not willing to try, I am happy just looking :)
I've considered corset piercings for years. I'm still planning on getting them some day. :) All I need is the money & location on my body where I want them. I'm thing my sides, or else chest area. I already have my sternum pierced, & that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. :)
Good luck with it EmpressSuicide!
That looks so painful! I knew someone who had a corset piercing and it was so crazy. It looks pretty sexy though.
Oh my! That's ... weird!
Incredible! looking very enchanting.. may be I will try lol....
These piercing is looking dreadful ;-O i am amazed to see this, I hope people survive this well after getting it done!
Anath I have never heard of this 'corset piercing' very interesting Hub, could put a whole new slant on 'face lifting'.
I find it strangely erotic to think that a woman would endure the pain of this procedure, and for what? So she can make herself more attractive to her partner?
Do men have this corset piercing done .
I love everything that have to do with corsetry but I do not know if I ever be able to stand the pain of a pierced corset!
I love this hub real cool!
Well... it looks like most of you find corset piercing attractive and even erotic but not many would dare to try it! I understand, I like looking at it but I would not like to try it myself!
Interesting you mention face lifts agvulpes, I wonder if anyone has tried that?
nice post, thanks for your share.
there is so many thing around now it kind of hard to keep up!
I have a friend that had a piercing under the skin done; when I 've first seen it I felt sorry for her as I though she had a lump or something, and I felt even more sorry when she told me she just had it done and that she was going to have a second one...
It looks painful to me. Never heard of pierced corset before until this article..
How about trying jewelry piercing,it looks elegant and exclusive i think!
Thank you for stopping Jobsfor14.
Urg!!! amazing what it is beautiful for some can be weird and even disgusting for others Sanarya.
Now you have namelessrider!
It sounds nice sord87.
wow! interesting what people will do to their bodies (for whatever motivation)! This is the first I've ever seen something like this. Looks horribly painful, and at high risk of a 'problem'. I cant even imagine if someone happend to get one of the strings caught....ouCH!!!!
Yikes!! I thought I was brave having my tongue pierced. I don't think I would have the nerve to do it... It is definitely too the extreme. Very interesting hub. Thanks Anath!!
This is an excellent hub and very informative! I think corset piercings are beautiful and was intrigued by them for a time until I found out that they were meant to be temporary. I can't go through that much pain for something that is temporary.
I think this Hub was interesting, well written, and eye-opening. I'd never heard of this before. I have to say, though, looking at those pictures kind of made feel like I was bordering on Disturbia's daughter's reaction. To each his own, I guess. :)
Oh my! This is definitely not for me. I'm even scared to get a needle shot, how much more to get piercing.
I took Fine Arts in college and, as part of our Life Drawing course, we had to draw nude models. One model, my favourite one, had over 50 piercings- including a lovely corset piercing on her back with deep purple ribbon against her pale skin. I'm not interested in getting one myself, but from an artistic perspective they are very elegant and visually appealing.
There was a lot of info here- looks like you've really done your homework. :)
It looks painful, but is beautiful, I'd like to add.
Getting the strings caught and doing everyday things such us showering or even lying down seem to be the main problem with this type of piercing 1st1up.
You were brave Maggie, no question about that!
I think that the piercing requires too much maintenance to be left permanently Suzanne. Most people seem to do it only temporary.
LOL... you said it Lisa.
LOL WilfordSy :)
Frugal Fanny, thanks for your comment. I am the same, I like the beauty and artistry of corset piercings but I would not have one done myself.
Painful pleasures nameslessrider...
No, I don't like it!
I personally think they are beautiful! I would love one!
not everyone's cup of tea gary!
let us know if you dare Frecklepants...
If I could find someone in my area who knew what the heck they were doing...sure!
I prefer the traditional way of corset I think is sexier...
That is so kewl
I never knew there was a such thing^^
I'm sorry, but this is barbaric and sick.
pain=beauty!
I love it, my twin wants to get that done
Interesting and informative hub.
Pretty cool.
Just waiting to be ripped out. If you get this, don't make anyone angry. Ever.
I think that is kick ass!!!! I am actually looking online and doing my research because I am going to get doubles on my legs!!! But I think that your pictures are cool and they look amazing and I can not wait to get mine done. I have my ears pierced all the way up and my tounge and septum pierced and I have five tatoos. 2 on my sides and 2 on the back and one somewhere else, use your imagination I am jsut wondering Anath if the piercings on the legs are going to hurt anything like my other piercings or tatoos do you know? I am trying to go with the permenant ones.
Thanks for your comments.
Actually Carmenia, I cannot answer your question. I have not done any piercing myself, so I could not tell you whether it hurts or not. I like how corset piercings look, but I am not brave enough to have one done. Let us know how does your leg piercing goes. Good luck!
I never knew these types of piercings existed. You can add this to the list of things I'll never do! I'd much rather wear the corset than be the corset.
It's great that you mentioned healing times and other things to be aware of.
These piercings look quite beautiful even though I would never do something that extensive. Thanks for all the information. It helps to know the pros and cons of procedures like this.
I love corsets but wow, this piercing idea is too much for me.
I love your hub but I think I'll stick to non-invasive corsets :)
I just had my collarbone dermals redone after on rejected... This kind of piercing (any surface that is) is NOT for the feint of heart. They hurt alot, more than a bar piercing, they are permanent and if they become infected they hurt like hell until it heals. You need to take care of these things everyday for a year before they heal. yeah... a YEAR. They look amazing, and are worth the pain in my mind I just hate seeing people go through this all and pay this much for it (from $60-$100 PER piercing. so 16 captive beads means $960 to $1600 for this kind of work. That will probably be taken out in days or months. As for normal, single surface piercings, face, neck, arm or hips, they are the same price but WAY lower rejection rates because there is only one or two holes, not 10-20. Its an open wound people.... someone took a needle, dug around a bit and stuck a piece of metal through this fresh, bleeding wound. Not to be taken lightly :D
Now you know T R Upshur!
It is a big commitment karent, so the more information one has before doing it, the better.
That makes two of us, me too I Love Corsets ;-)
Thank you for all that wealth of information Kelly, it is always much better to hear personal experiences that just seeing it from the "outside".
Informative piece Love the pictures. Very beautiful.
They are stunning SognoPiccolo, thanks for stopping by.
no problem. I wish I were able to get one but the fact that they are not permanent always prevents me from doing it lol
The lacing looks wonderful , but not for me
thanks for this very interesting article

Wow what an education! I guess piercings are just not my thing!Great interesting and informative hub, especially the warnings!
